Overview

Bad At It" was conceived as a reaction to the overly polished, sterile aesthetic that currently dominates digital design. The intention was to strip away every layer of "professionalism" to see what remains of a brand's message when the delivery is deliberately unrefined. This involved mocking up branding systems that rely on broken grids, mismatched font weights, and unconventional layout spacing that technically violates standard accessibility and balance rules.

The outcome of the project is a body of work that forces the viewer to engage with the core message because the "surface" layer is intentionally non-compliant. By leaning into what is traditionally considered a "mistake" in professional design, I was able to demonstrate how context can change the perception of failure. It serves as a study in how much visual noise a brand can sustain before the core utility—the communication of the product,is completely lost, and it provides a framework for knowing when to pull back on the polish.
